To help minimize costs, you should always enter the card code (the last 3 digits on the signature strip on the back of a Visa®/MasterCard®/Discover® Network card or the 4 digits above the card number on the front of an American Express® card) if manually entering transactions and have your website pass the numeric part of the customer's address, along with all other data, when accepting payments through your website.
As a courtesy to its merchants, First Data Independent Sales allows them to accept Discover® Network cards at the same rates and fees as Visa®/MasterCard® transactions. If you would like to accept American Express, please choose the option for it on the first screen of the application. Your discount rate will be calculated and displayed during the application process.

The batch closure and batch settlement fees are incurred every time a batch is closed. The batch closure and batch settlement processes together ensure that the batch is properly closed, that all customers are properly billed, and that all funds are deposited in your bank account in a timely manner.
If there are any transactions in the current batch, it will automatically close at 9p PT each night. You may also manually close the batch from within the gateway.

The monthly minimum is dependent on how much volume you process each month. If you are processing at least $450 of Visa®/MasterCard®/Discover® Network transactions per month, then you will not see any monthly minimum fees. However, if you are processing less than $450 per month in Visa®/MasterCard®/Discover® Network transactions per month, you'll see a portion of this fee. As an example, if you process 4 transactions totalling $300 in a month, you'd see $2.28 as a monthly minimum fee ($10 - ($300 * .0224) - ($0.25 * 4)).
The customer service fee covers both support from the local agent office (Monday - Friday, 9 AM - % PM CT) and the corporate office (24 x 7).
